Crossroads has been in the Pella community for over 30 years asking this question to thousands of individuals each year. Crossroads can provide help in a variety of ways, but most importantly it is a place to start.If there are mental health, employment, family or conflict issues, we will develop a plan.  Review the information located on this page and if you or your neighbor needs assistance,

Klompen Classic 5K

The Klompen Classic is a 5K road race that takes place annually on the streets of Pella, the Wednesday evening before the start of Tulip Time. The race is organized by a committee of dedicated volunteers and the proceeds benefit Crossroads of Pella Programs.

After School Kids Klub (ASKK) provides safe, affordable child care not only after school and for early outs until 6:00pm, but also at 7:30am for LATE STARTS, snow delays, and snow days this year! A summer session is also available. ASKK is for children who are currently in Kindergarten through the 6th grade.



Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings in Pella take place on Thursdays at 7pm and Saturdays at noon. The group meets at 712 Union Street, Pella Community Center, Room 308.


Christmas Help

Toys for needy families in the Pella School District.


The Pella Community Toy Shelf provides toys for children living in the Pella School District. Through local donations of toys and the U.S. Marine’s Corps Toys for Tots, we are able to provide for the children of area families.

Adopt a Family for Christmas:If families or individuals living in Pella School District would like Christmas help, they can stop by the Crossroads office at 712 Union Street, Room 301, to register between November 4 and December 9 for food, clothing or toys. All families will remain CONFIDENTIAL.

Employment Help

Employment Help and resume building is available.



English Language Learners (ELL) classes are available to work with individuals from a variety of countries to enhance their language skills.

Crossroads of Pella provides financial assistance to those in need. Families without basic utilities or housing are a priority. Families who chronically are unable to meet their bills will be referred for counseling in financial management. Upon initial request for funds, individuals are required to fill out a request form. This allows Crossroads staff the opportunity to inform families of programs in place to help low income families. Crossroads cannot guarantee assistance, but each request will be given thoughtful consideration. Call us at (641) 628-1212 or visit our office if you are in need of assistance. Please bring invoice for verification.

Free Counseling is available, confidentially, for all people free of charge. Crisis, marriage, workplace and family counseling is available. Evening and Saturday appointments are available for your convenience.

Crossroads offers support, resources, and information for friends, family and neighbor caregivers who are caring for children while their parents are working. Crossroads can assist these caregivers in offering a safe environment and preparing children in their care for school readiness.

We can provide access to lending library, Play and Learns, Health/Safety Resources, Free CPR training, information on local community resources, support for challenging behavior and Grandparents Reading Circle.

To assist our neighbors who are facing transplant operations or extreme medical expenses related to an illness, Crossroads has established an Illness Support/Transplant Fund for those who live within the Pella School District. Crossroads determines who is eligible and provides an accounting of contributions. A committee has been developed to oversee disbursements. As a 501(c)3 non-profit, gifts given to Crossroads are tax deductible.

To assist our neighbors who work for an employer in the Pella School District, but now find themselves unable to work, Crossroads has established the Injured Workers Fund. Crossroads determines who is eligible and provides an accounting of contributions. A committee has been developed to oversee disbursements. As a 501(c)3 non-profit, gifts given to Crossroads are tax deductible.

The Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) is provided through the State of Iowa’s Insurance Division. Medicare rules and regulations can be confusing and our volunteers are trained to help. If you or your spouse is approaching 65 years of age, let's explore your options.

Prevention  Programs

Child abuse prevention, parenting classes, and internet safety are offered free of charge through Crossroads of Pella.

Substance Abuse Treatment is offered through Edge of Recovery. Edge of Recovery is a substance abuse outpatient treatment program offering individual and group counseling, and substance abuse assessments throughout the Mahaska, Marion and surrounding areas of Iowa.
